What Is Psychic Ability?

A simple straightforward way to find your inner-self and how to develop and use your under-developed sixth sense

Clairvoyance Clairaudience Clairsentience.

Psychic Ability goes hand in hand with exceptional ability. This ability can be used for life enhancement. Your whole life is directed according to your psychic ability and perceptions of this ability; every day you make decisions based on information you get psychically. As an example of what a wide span the World of This Ability reaches ... each of the following words, phrases or people, relates in one way or another to this great ability ...

It's easy to get confused about just what is phenomena. It is so easy to be completely confused by all the different notions of what is psychic. Unfortunately, there are so many definitions out there that refer to "special powers" or to "extra" sensory perception, that it's easy to think that if you don't have any "special" powers, you must not be psychic.

For instance, my huge Random House dictionary defines "Psychic" as: 1. of or pertaining to the human soul or mind; mental (opposed to physical), 2. (psychological): pertaining to or noting mental phenomena, 3. outside of natural or scientific knowledge; spiritual, 4. of or pertaining to some apparently nonphysical force or agency, 5. sensitive to influences or forces of a nonphysical or supernatural nature, 6. a person who is allegedly sensitive to psychic influences or forces; medium.

None of these rather vague descriptions helps you, the reader seeking real answers, to experience this for yourself. The whole subject seems "outside" of natural experiences. "Supernatural". Nothing could be further from the truth. The truth is simple: You embody the psychic. Everyone in the whole world is psychic. A better way to state this would be to say that we are all at one level or another of psychic development. (If we only use 7% of our brains, what does the other 93% do?)

Here's the good news: Once you recognize the psychic ability within yourself and acknowledge it as such, it becomes easy to train and strengthen.

Here are some examples of psychic ability: You have a dream that in one way or another comes true...You think the phone's going to ring, and it does...Or, to take that further, the phone rings and you know who it is before you answer...and you don't have caller ID...You know what a friend is going to say-right before they say it...You take a different route home than usual, for some strange reason, and see on the news when you get home the four car pileup you missed by doing so...

Do you recognize yourself in any of these examples? They are all taken from situations that truly happened to my clients. These clients had all called me at one time or another, afraid that the "voice" in their minds meant they were losing their marbles! Being psychic can range from being able to fully "tune in" on this voice, to understanding the meaning of a "gut feeling", to getting fully "clairvoyant" experiences of vivid mental imagery.

The main mistake people make in trying to understand the psychic is to think it needs to be an earth-shattering spiritual event. Not so.

Psychic ability manifests as subtleties. It has a tendency to start as a thought like "Wouldn't it be funny if..." It is easier for our logically trained minds to accept this, rather than a booming voice in your head predicting the next major 'quake. It's that odd little nagging sensation that says "Maybe I should check the car after it's just been serviced", and then you go check and find they've left the oil cap off..! (This happened to me just last week. I got some funny looks as I popped the hood in the dealership lot!) Tune in and check it out.

Psychic ability, You have it already. Prove it to your self by looking at this list of revealing signs...

Psychic ability - your hidden talent.

Psychic ability is demonstrated whenever a person picks up information and knowledge that he or she wouldn't or shouldn't normally know. The information comes from a source outside of the person's intellect, and is distinct from learned knowledge and experience. The insights and knowledge derived, comes directly from the universal mind and from other people themselves. It works like mental telepathy where one person can read another's thoughts. Everyone has had that experience more than once in there life, and if they can't recall ever having done so, its because they were not paying attention and didn't recognize it. Just like hearing, feeling, seeing, smelling and tasting, everyone has it. It is our sixth sense.

Signs Of Psychic Ability 1. The telephone rings and you know who it is.

2. You know what someone is about to say to you before they say the words.

3. You get a hunch or knowing about something and it turns out to be correct.

4. You get a sudden urge to go somewhere or do something, and when you do that thing, and it turns out to be the right thing that you should have done. And you are pleased.

5. You get a sudden urge to go somewhere or do something, and you ignore it or don't do it, and it turns out that you should have. And you regret it.

6. You can understand someone's true inner feelings even though on the outside they are hiding them.

7. You have a feeling that there is a presence or that someone or something behind the scene is helping you.

8. When something happens in your life, either good or not so good, and you suddenly understand a higher purpose behind it.

9. You sometimes hear a soft inner voice tipping you off about things happening in your life or in the life of someone else.

The difference between a psychic with psychic ability, an intuitive, and a medium.

The psychic is one who tunes to a higher source to get information that comes from out side of the intellect. This information comes from the universal mind through ESP (extra sensory perception - see ESP related pages). The intuitive knows things based upon an intellectual capacity that utilizes logic, personal experience and learned knowledge to arrive at certain conclusions about the facts. The medium has the highly developed senses of both , plus the added mental tuning to another realm of knowledge. The medium has is able to connect with the world of deceased souls that are said to be dead, but rather who are in a different reality than those who exist in the physical world.

Psychic Ability is Psychic Power

Psychic Ability is Connecting with universal spirit

This hidden power is is available to those who recognize and accept that there is a higher realm of knowing and communication beyond their own physical bodies. The universe is full of this unlimited energy that can be tapped by almost anyone who will make the effort to focus and tune themselves to its subtle vibrations. These vibrations are not just for the so called 'gifted' persons, but for everyone who makes the effort to learn its secrets and to develop the psychic ability. Most all psychic people are that because they recognized the signs of this energy and focused their attention on its workings which is the very thing that is required in order to develop it. If they hadn't focused their attention on it, then they wouldn't be what they are. In other words, they would have had and developed their psychic abilities.

Psychic Abilities and Focus

To begin tuning into this force you need to learn about focusing. Focusing on even the smallest instance of psychic phenomena that happens to your self and to people around you. Play the event around in your mind continually, to get familiar with the sense of the action and presence of the energy involved. This will give you a perception of how involved and integrated is the underlying hidden power that caused the event to take place.

The Two Types of Psychic Ability

There are a great many misconceptions about psychics, psychic abilities, and psychic readings, so I'd like to clarify things as much as possible. Psychic ability is just one of the many talents, gifts, and abilities we were all born with. As with all of our gifts and abilities — creativity, musical ability, healing powers, writing talent, speaking, acting, and so on — it's up to us to decide if we want to develop it or not.

There are actually three distinctly different psychic gifts — clairvoyance, clairaudience, (and clairsentience, but this psychic ability will not be covered here, YET) — and how much you've used these abilities in past lives will determine what your strong areas will be in this life. For example, if you developed the psychic ability of clairvoyance in a former life, it's going to come a lot easier this time, whereas if this is the first of your lifetimes for clairaudience, it's going to take some time and effort to develop it. Some of the more gifted psychics have all these psychic abilities highly developed, and the majority of them have at least two that have come easily and naturally.

Clairvoyance and Psychic Ability

The Psychic Ability of Clairvoyance (clear seeing) is the gift of seeing visions, images, or pictures. For a clairvoyant, "seeing" psychic information is something like watching a movie. This information comes in through the "third eye," which is located in the middle of the forehead, though invisible to our human eyes. We all have a third eye. As strange as it sounds, this eye can see in every direction. The information received can look something like a cartoon strip. If there's a lot of information, the psychic may get a number of pictures in a sequence, one at a time; other times information comes in as one big picture. Sometimes it comes in slowly, sometimes quickly, depending upon the psychic's ability to see and interpret what she's seeing.

Here's an example of how it works: A client tells a psychic that she's having problems with her marriage but is too close to it to see what the problems really are or to know what she needs to do about them. Up on the psychic's "screen" (another term for the third eye) comes an image of a racetrack. The next frame shows a turtle and a hare at the starting line. In the next picture, the hare takes off going full speed and runs circles around the turtle, who is moving at a very slow but steady pace. The picture seems to emphasize that the turtle is very methodical about its movements and careful to observe and take in everything around her while the hare continues to run in circles, not paying attention to his surroundings. The next picture emphasizes how much the hare wants to win at any cost. He loves to compete with everything. The next picture shows that the turtle is oblivious to the whole concept of winning, she just wants to be aware of what's going on, and to get where she's going.

The clairvoyant receives the information in the form of pictures, and the most important part of the job is to interpret the images as accurately as possible. If a clairvoyant hasn't developed an understanding of the pictures he or she receives, she might give false information. There have been many times in my psychic development (and even now!) when I have misinterpreted the information I receive. It's very important to pay attention to all the details that the pictures are giving us and to interpret them as accurately as possible.

Let's go back to the turtle and the hare. The psychic tells her client what she is seeing, and says that it feels like she's the turtle, not being in a hurry to get through life, not feeling competitive, always wanting to stop along the way and enjoy life, while her husband is the hare, going through life like a race, never stopping along the way to enjoy himself but always in a hurry to win. She points out how different they are in their essential nature, and suggests that this is where the problem originates. As you can see, this clairvoyant first received the pictures and then interpreted them according to what she felt the pictures meant, checking other interpretation with her intuition to more fully understand it before she offered it to her client.

Sometimes the pictures are far more difficult to interpret than at other times. When I get pictures I'm not sure about, I usually describe them in detail to my client and we discuss what they might mean. There's always the possibility that the pictures are not symbolic messages but actual scenes from situations that have already occurred, or are currently occurring, or are going to occur in the future. There are two ways to tell:

One is to look at every possible interpretation and the other is to check the pictures out intuitively, which we'll talk more about later.

A bit of advice for those of you who get psychic readings: If you've received information that doesn't seem accurate, tell the psychic so. They may not have checked in with their intuition to see if their interpretation was accurate, and they could have simply misinterpreted what they saw. Hopefully they can go back and look at the pictures and see if there's a different explanation.

Clairaudience and Psychic Ability

The second form of psychic ability is clairaudience (clear hearing), the gift of hearing spirit. This ability is also located in the head area. I think of it as having psychic ears. There are two ways to hear spirit. One comes through as a clear audible voice, which many people claim to have heard at least once in their life. A voice calls out their name, for instance, but when they look in the direction of the voice they see nothing.

The other form of clairaudience, which is the most common psychic ability, is the psychic ability to "hear" thoughts that come into our head from spirit guides, angels, or our deceased loved ones. If you've ever observed James Van Praagh, John Edward, Sylvia Browne, or any of the other well-known mediums or psychics of our time giving a reading, they're usually having an ongoing conversation with their guides throughout the session. They all have clairaudience. Mental telepathy, which is the psychic ability to pick up thoughts from someone here on earth, is also a form of clairaudience.

What makes clairaudience so challenging to the beginner is that all our thoughts and all the different voices seem to sound similar. The more developed the clairaudient's skill becomes, the easier it is to discern among all the thoughts and the different voices coming in. During a psychic reading, a clairaudient can be receiving information from many voices at once: her own spirit guides, the guides of the client, deceased relatives of the client, and perhaps an angel or two. It takes quite a bit of concentration to listen to all the voices and discern which voices are relevant and which are talking gibberish. And although most experienced clairaudients can keep up with the pace, sometimes the thoughts of the spirits come in so quickly that the clairaudient can miss part of the message.

A bit of advice for any of you who might go to see a clairaudient for a reading: You might want to hold your questions and comments until after they're done receiving information. It can be pretty tough to discern everything coming in from the different voices while a client is talking as well.

Developing Psychic Ability

A true psychic goes through years of training and initiation, which develops spiritual, moral, ethical values and responsibilities. This is not a formalized educational process that someone can teach you, but an individualized growth process that is different for every individual. This period of development is on going throughout the lifetime of the individual.

In this development process of your psychic ability a true psychic learns:

Ability must be used for service to others, for the highest good of all.
