How To Use And Construct Pendulums?

Basic Construction & Uses Of Pendulums. ("PDL"s)

The first thing to address for those of you who might not know is what exactly IS a "PDL"?

A "PDL" is a weighted object on the end of some sort of flexible string-like medium.. Basically a thing on a string. It is used for divination. "PDL"s are much more flexible in their use than say a divining rod is. Not only can it be used to locate object or dowse for water and such, a "PDL" can be used to divine many other things.

It all depends on how you use one. That is the point of the following lesson.

Construction

Pendulums come in a makes and sizes. They can be anything from a crystal on a chain, to something as simple as a washer on a length of sewing thread.

A pendulum made of things generally thought to possess magickal qualities might possibly perform better than one made out of common household items, experience has taught me that just about anything will work well. All you truly need is a thing on a string.

So if you need to make yourself a pendulum here is a simple way to do so.

1. Find either a washer, a nut, or a ring that you don't wear anymore.

2. Get about 10 inches or so of either thread or string. ( I currently use cross-stitch thread for mine)

3. Tie your washer or whatever you chose to the string.

4. Congratulations! You have just made a pendulum. Easy Huh?

Chart Construction

Take a moment to either save and print, or as best you can, draw a copy of the following graphic. It actually prints bigger if you save the picture by itself and print that.

Ok. Hopefully you have your chart ready. Now its time to fill it out.

The bottom half is easy. Starting at either the left or right side at the bottom, write a 0(zero). Going around starting marking in increments of 5. (ie.. 5, 10, 15, etc.)

You should finish up with 100 directly opposite of the 0 you started with.

The top half is a bit harder. You actually get to use the pendulum to figure out how to fill it out. What you are going to do is try and find the pendulum's swing direction for each of the answers:

"YES", "NO", DON'T KNOW", WON'T ANSWER", "MAYBE", and "DON'T UNDERSTAND".

The way you do this is to lay the chart down flat. Take your pendulum and hold the string between your thumb and forefinger with at least 8 inches of string out, over the center of the chart where the lines cross, and ask your pendulum to show the direction it wants to use for each of the answers.

Some of you make get a very quick response and some of you will end up sitting there just waiting. If your pendulums doesn't seem to want to cooperate, you can tell it the direction you want for each answer by swinging it in the desired direction and telling it "This is the direction for YES".. or whatever the answer is that you are working on.

If you are wondering why I didn't just fill this out for you, its because the chart is personal and won't be the same for everyone.

USES

Before we get into the actual use of the pendulum, I'm going to give you a bit of theory to absorb.

A pendulum in and of itself is a dead object. It has no mind of its own, despite it perhaps seeming to when you were filling out your chart.

What actually makes a pendulum move is you the operator. It is moved by tiny movements in your fingers, hands, and arms as directed by your subconscious. All the divining, answers, everything comes from you.

Human beings are some of the most sensitive things in the world and can detect things that you could hardly even imagine on a conscious level. When you are trying to dowse for water, read the future, or whatever.. you yourself are what actually gets the information.

A pendulum is just a tool to help you get the information on a level you can more easily understand and make sense and hopefully use of.

The first and most important rule when using a pendulum or any other instrument of divination is to approach the work with a sense of curiosity.

Even if you are sure you know the answer to a question you ask, try to think as if you don't and are looking for the answer for the first time.

If you ask a question with any preconceptions of what the answer will be, it can cause you to get the answer you think you know, even if you are very very wrong. Never forget that and you should do well.

Most of the uses I'll cover in this lesson will revolve around the charts you made. Both are geared to the asking of questions. The questions you ask can be on just about any topic. The key is in learning how to use the charts in the best way possible.

Pie Chart

We'll start with the pie (numbered) chart. It is numbered from 0 to 100 in increments of 5. So obviously the easiest thing would be to ask questions with answers between 0 and 100.

BUT.. It has a lot more range than that. It is scalable and can be set to any sort of range you need. For instance rather than 0 to 100.. it can be looked at as being from 0 to 10 in increments of .5 or from 0 to 1000 in increments of 50. Its all in how you look at it.

I'll give an example below.

Say you want to ask about someone's age. So you start with the range from 0 to 100. You get and answer somewhere between 35 and 40. If you want to get more accurate, you set the range from 0 to 10 with the 0 representing 30 and the 100 representing 40, and ask the question again according to that scale. So you can get a result of 37.5 years rather than something more vague.

Practice this sort of thing until you get the hang of rescaling.

Now another thing you can do with this chart is to give some sense of concrete answers to abstract questions. An example of that would be "How much John love Jane?"

Hard one to answer normally. But you can do it with the number chart. The way to answer this question is to use percentages. Tell yourself.. or your pendulum if you prefer, that the 0 represents a total absence of of love and that 100 represents the most love possible and then ask your question.

Experiment until you get the hang of this kind of questioning.

The last common use is to tell the relative value or importance of 2 things. For instance you want to know if you should wear a red shirt or a blue one.

Set your balance, makes no difference point at 50 with the red shirt being a 0 and the blue being a 100. Now ask your question. If the answer is anywhere near 50 it makes little difference what you wear.

But if it swings much closer to either 0 or 100 you'll have a definite answer. Once again practice until you get comfortable asking these kinds of questions.

The 3 uses above are probably not the only sort you can use the chart for, but they've done well for any question I've ever needed answered. See if you can find some new way to put the chart to use. If you come up with anything let me know and I can add it here for others to learn.

Circle Chart

This chart is a fun one. With 6 answers you can ask a whole lot of questions without doing anything special other than asking questions that at least 1 of the answers will suffice for.

You might be wondering why you have the answers WON'T ANSWER, and DON'T UNDERSTAND. Well the reason for these answers is that you won't always be asking just your subconscious the questions.

You may be asking questions of a spirit guides or some other outside source and they might well not understand the question you asked. And both outside sources and your own subconscious will on occasion refuse to answer a question.

It might be that its none of your business or something that you aren't supposed to know just yet.

You can also use this chart to ask questions that aren't yes or no or whatever. The key to this type of question is to designate your potential answers with a direction for each.

Example.. Who is the better dancer? Tom, Dick, or Harry. To get your answer.. set the direction for TOM the same as YES, the direction for DICK will be the same as NO, and the direction for HARRY will be the same as MAYBE. then ask the question.

As with the other chart, the thing to do with this one is to practice, practice, practice. The more you work at it, the better you will be able to ask good questions and get good answers faster.

Good Luck and Happy Divining With Your New Pendulum!!
