Leonard Padilla
Leonard Padilla on DR PHIL : I really thought by getting [Casey] out of jail, we could get to the bottom of it. She never cooperated one bit,” bounty hunter Leonard Padilla reveals during a taped interview. “No emotions whatsoever. Never mentioned Caylee." “I was with Casey pretty much every day. Casey’s very manipulative and flirtatious. My intent was to, hopefully, get a clue as to what the real story was,” says Leonard's partner, Rob Dick. “I think she backed herself into a corner. It sounds like it’s going to be a very sad ending.” When the tape ends, Dr. Phil addresses Rob. “What did you see that bothered you the most?” he inquires. “I guess just her daily upbeat attitude, like nothing really bothered her. She’s got a lot of things going on in her life — not only her missing daughter, but her criminal case — and she just doesn’t seem concerned,” he replies. “You drove her around for nine days,” Dr. Phil observes. He turns to Lisa. “What kind of woman uses information about her child as leverage?” he asks. “She’s been in jail and then released three times now — none for homicide charges — for child neglect, writing bad checks, things of that nature,” she answers. “One of the times she said, ‘If you let me out of jail, I’ll lead you to where my daughter is.’ Could you imagine letting your daughter be in harm’s way and using that as leverage?” Dr. Phil addresses Leonard. "Y’all actually made bond for her, is that right?” “That’s correct,” the bounty hunter replies. “My nephew, Tony Padilla, wrote the bond for $500,000. I paid him the premium on it. We were all in Orlando at the time. We thought it was going to be a cakewalk. She wanted out. She’ll lead us to the child. It’ll be over with. It’ll work out," he replies. But in the end, his hopes were dashed. "In no uncertain terms, she just would not discuss anything, didn’t even mention the child, just started off with her story about [her alleged nanny] Zenaida, except this time she started off with Zenaida in the park, not at the apartment complex.” “So she gave another inconsistency,” Dr. Phil reflects. “When she gets cornered, she goes on to the next lie and adds to that,” Leonard says. “I cannot assign a diagnosis to her,” Dr. Phil makes clear, “but everybody can see this is very consistent with what we’re describing as an antisocial personality: the repeated lying and embellishments, ducking accountability and the absence of remorse.”
