Bad omen or old choker?

I had this choker, with white bone long beads and small black circular ones. And in the middle there was a small zuni bear accompanied by a small piece of jade, and a little metal leaf dangling from the bottom.
My grandmother Dawn had made this choker for my dad who gave it to me and I wore it daily. Not taking it off for sleep.

I was at a swim meet, and we were warming up when I dove in. When I came back up and put my hand to my neck, but my necklace was no longer there.

I found pieces of my necklace at the bottom of the pool, and I was able to recover parts of it including my zuni bear which I have though I no longer wear it.

For a bit after discovering my necklace was broken I was in a foul mood.

Hours later, I was home and in bed when my mother came into my room red faced and freaking out.

I later learned my grandfather on my mothers side was dead. He drowned.
